The Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai is one of the earliest colleges in the country that was founded in the year 1837 by the Church of Scotland. MCC is a self-financing college for boys and girls situated in the city and it is affiliated to the University of Madras. MCC has been accredited with NAAC and has received the ‘A’ grade. The college has been ranked 18th among Indian colleges as per NIRF Rankings 2023. The college provides education from undergraduate level up to the post graduate level in sciences, social sciences and humanities. MCC is an accredited institution by the University grants commission (UGC).
MCC has introduced undergraduate programmes such as B.A, B.Sc, B.Com among others. It offers Undergraduate programs like B.A, B.Com, BBA and Postgraduate courses such as M.A., M.Sc., M.Com, MBA. The most desired disciplines include Economics, Visual communication, Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Commerce, English Literature and Mathematics. University of Madras pattern is followed and examinations are conducted with regard to semester pattern. Admission to the programme of 2024 batch shall be opened in May 2023.
The placement cell of MCC offers campus recruitment programmes through reputed organizations such as IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Hinduja Global Solutions, etc In the academic year 2023, more than 80% of the students eligible for placements have been successful in getting placed in leading organizations at highest salary package of 1.8 LPA. The salary package offered per annum ranges between 3-7 LPA. Some of the big servers are IBM, Byju, Hinduja Global Solution, Cognizant Technology Solution, Scope International, Conduent, Globarena, Paypal, Pure Software etc.
