SMIT is a private university that offers engineering and management programmes for both male and female students in Sikkim, India. SMIT was set up in year 1997, and it is approved by AICTE and also is certified by UGC. It has been accredited grade ‘A’ by NAAC and has also obtained a CGPA of 3.11. The NIRF Ranking 2023 has just been released and according to it SMIT has been placed at the 91 position among all the engineering colleges in India.
SMIT provides the ultimate blend of academics and professional education in undergraduate and postgraduate levels across the branches of Engineering, Technology and Management like computer science, electronics and telecommunication, electrical and electronics, mechanical civil, biotechnology, food processing technology and management, and master of business Administration. Admission into the programmes usually starts in January every year. For the batch beginning from the academic session 2024-25, SMIT Joint Entrance Examination (SMITJEE) will be held in the month of May, starting from the first week of May 2023. The successfully selected candidates will be subjected to seat allocation or admission through the counseling process.
