Fashion design advanced diploma is an advanced course of study geared at preparing the students in both the technical and creative aspects of fashion designing. The skills that are taught in the course are fabrics, patterns and constructing garments, fashion illustration, draping technique, computer aided design, and several national and international trends in the fashion industry. They usually take 1 to 2 years to complete the Advanced Diploma course, depending on the institute providing the course.
The following is the minimum requirement for any candidate to be accepted in the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design. The courses that are generally accepted as admission tests for this course include NATA, NID, CEED, FDDI Aptitude test (GD and Test), CAT and certain state level or university or private fashion /design college entrance test as considered by the Institute.

1. Candidates with a 10+2 pass in any stream from any recognized board with at least 50% aggregate marks are eligible.
2. The individuals should be creative mind, love to design clothes and should be interested in the fashion industry.
3. Ideally, the candidate should have a minimal understanding of fashion trends, design aspects, fabrics, and garments.
4. Fashion illustration skills and attention to details is needed when it comes to drawing skills requirement for the position.
5. Candidates for this position should be in a position to cope with changes that present themselves in the world of fashion.
6. Additional requirements include proper communication skills and the ability to cope with the pressure that is often characteristic of such work.
1. NIFT: National Institute of Fashion Technology entrance exam involves the written and situation tests as means of assessing the students’ aptitude to design.
2. NID: The entrance examination for National Institute of Design also assesses creativity and the manner in which an individual will approach a task through a studio test and an interview.
3. UCEED: Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design: Drawing, creativity, perception and design thinking.
4. CEED: To this end, the Common Entrance Exam for Design evaluates the candidates’ analytical skills, problem solving skills, sketching skills, creativity and observation skills.
5. NATA: National Aptitude Test in Architecture also evaluates drawing, observation, aesthetic sensitivity through an online exam.
