BA English Literature is an undergraduate course which deals with study of English literature- Novels, Poems, plays, works from different Literary periods. The BA English Literature course normally takes 3 years, but is spread out across 6 semesters. English literature is taught over a general period of time, and includes British, American and Anglophone/Postcolonial periods. Some of the main courses are: The Theory and Interpretation of Literature, British Literature, American Literature, Shakespeare.
The accepted entrance exams are Higher Secondary Board Exams and the exams may include the following; CBSE 12th or state boards. While some of the colleges may allow the candidate to use scores of national level entrance tests such as CUET for admission, other colleges conduct their own entrance tests. In addition to the meeting of basic eligibility criteria laid down by colleges in terms of their 12th boards scores, the candidate has to appear in the entrance test if any prescribed by the institute for getting admission in the BA English Literature.

1. The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination or any other recognized examination with at least 50% aggregate marks in English medium.
