Bachelor of Arts in Product Design is an undergraduate degree designed to provide knowledge and necessary skills for designing and creating products. Program duration is usually 3 years or 6 semesters depending on the institution of a student’s choice. Some of the areas of emphasis include design thinking, design research, product styling, human factors, and rapid prototyping. Besides training the students in creative problem solving by means of projects and internships. 

The entrance examinations accepted for admission in BA Product Design course include National Institute of Design Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Common Entrance Examination (CEED), National Institute of Fashion Technology entrance test (NIFT), and Under Graduate Common Entrance Examination (UCEED) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology. Many colleges also require class 12 scores or have their own qualifying test, generally taken by all students.

BA Product Design Course Eligibility 2024

1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in any stream including Science, Commerce, or Arts obtaining at least 50% marks. 

2. For students who come from arts or commerce background the course in drawing would be compulsory for the first year.

3. There is an entrance exam to be passed by candidates in a design college/university. 

4. A design aptitude test will be conducted to measure the students’ feeling of creativeness, beauty and imagery.  

5. The candidates are required to present a portfolio of artwork/designs that they have developed on their own must be 5-10. 

6. Work interests, motivation, and compatibility to the design field will be evaluated through an interview session.
