B.Com in Accounting is an undergraduate course aimed at offering students a sound knowledge on accounting concepts and practices. It is a three years long course that covers the basic concepts and principles of financial accounting, cost and managerial accounting, tax accounting, auditing, and accounting information systems. Students are able to understand how to account for, make a summary and analyze and interpret financial transactions of an organization.
The entrance tests that are considered for admission into B.Com (Accounting) in many colleges are: The national level test: Common Entrance Test (CET), The state level test or the college level test. The CET is usually administered from April-May in a given year. Other similar exams conducted at the state level are MHTCET conducted for Maharashtra and Karnataka PGCET which is conducted in Karnataka.

1. 10+2 passed or equivalent from a recognized board with minimum 50% in 10+2.
2. Mathematics or Business Mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 standard for some of the colleges.
3. No age limit but minimum age will be of 17 years to get admitted in this course.
4. Communication skills: Fluent in English as that will be the medium of communication.
5. Certain colleges also have their own entrance exam for students to get admitted into their institutions.
6. Some institutes may prefer work experience in the field of accounting to other candidates.
1. CAT: Common Admission Test is conducted by the IIMs for admission to their business administration and management programs for example B.Com.
2. CPT: ICAI conducts Common Proficiency Test which is for testing the knowledge imparted by it in basic accounting and it is also an entrance test for some of the B.Com courses.
3. AMU B.Com Entrance Test: Carried out by Aligarh Muslim University for entry into B.Com courses, including accounting, offered at the university and its associated colleges.
4. BHU B.Com Entrance Test: The admission in the B.Com programs in Banaras Hindu University is done on the basis of the entrance test that the university holds for the different subject area and accounting is one among them.
5. DU B.Com Entrance Test: B.Com professional courses including accounting offered by the Delhi University comes under the category of those courses which require the candidate to write a common entrance test.
