Economics is one of the prominent majors among the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program which offers training in many aspects of the economy, commerce, trade, and statistics. The 3-year degree prepares the students for economic research, financial analysis, business consulting or other fields which require understanding of economic concept and quantitative tools. This program offers subjects such as Micro & Macro economics, Public finance, International trade, Research methods, Accountancy, Business statistics, Business law & Management principles.

Universities accept SET / SLET exams as entrance exams done at the state level for admission. It is to mention here that some universities such as Delhi University also possess CUET as an eligibility criterion while some other universities have their own standard entrance procedure. The application period also varies, though it is known to be from May to July, for the examinations conducted in July-August. Candidates who are finally shortlisted undergo the process of counselling in September-October depending on the merit rank.

BCom Economics Course Eligibility 2024

1. The candidate should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from any recognized board or university and must have obtained at least 50% of the total marks in the qualifying examination. 

2. Mathematics is also one of the subjects in the curriculum of 10+2 education system and is compulsory for most of the colleges. 

3. The requirements vary from college to college, and some of them may ask for Economics in 10+2.

4. It is always good to note that institutions have a relaxed criteria for admission for reserved category students with low marks.  

5. Very little of the colleges and universities follow the practice of holding their own entrance examination.

6. Admission is granted based on overall general performance in school, performance in relevant academic courses and overall academic record.

2. DUET (Delhi University Entrance Test): Delhi University conducts the DUET for admitting students to various undergraduate courses.

3. SEST – Symbiosis Entrance Test for getting admission to different Symbiosis colleges providing B.Com 

4. IP University exam – this is the examination conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for the B.Com course admission.

5. BHU-PET: exam preparation to get admission into B.Com offered by Banaras Hindu University and tests aptitude and knowledge of economics.

BCom Economics Admission 2024

1. Successfully pass 12th standard in relevant stream such as commerce / maths. Mark secured in the examination should not be less than. 

2. You need to apply with the colleges that offer B.Com (Economics) before the application period elapses.

3. Take entrance tests if any for similar courses if you are interested in transferring to a similar course. 

4. It is recommended that if one is called by the college to attend a counselling session then one should honour the call.  

5. Done Submit all the necessary documents and pay for the admission fee.
