Fashion Clothing Design is one of the specialisations of the design stream offered under the Bachelor of Design (abbreviated B.Des) program at the undergraduate level. This course is a four-year full-time program that entails studies in fashion industry and fashion designing education that comprises of various aspects such as visual communication, fabrics as well as materials, trends and markets and mastering the designing techniques that include tools such as pattern-making, draping, sewing as well as CAD software.
Admission tests to enter the Bachelor of Design (Fashion Clothing Design) include the NIFT exam, National Institute of Design’s Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT), Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) conducted by IIT Bombay, Footwear Design and Development Institute’s Aptitude Test, Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) conducted by some of the IITs, and, in some cases, direct aptitude tests and Generally, class 12 marks are also utilized in ranking during admission, in addition to scores that have been obtained in the entrance exams.

1. Minimum qualification 10+2 passed in any stream – Science, Commerce, Arts, with 50% marks in aggregate.
2. Minimum 45% marks are required in 10+2 for SC/ST candidates for admission purpose.
3. The candidate must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board of education in India.
4. A few institutes have their own written tests that are required to be cleared for admission, apart from group interviews and portfolio presentations.
5. Candidates of non-English background may be expected to submit proof of English language proficiency via IELTS, TOEFL.
6. The successful candidates should show a strong passion towards fashion, designing, creativity and whole sale visual arts.
