Bachelors of Design [B.Des] Fine Arts is an undergraduate course that has been designed to last for 4 years. This course covers facets of visual arts such as painting, sculpture, art history, visual communication, photograph, etc The abilities of the students are developed through teaching of base subjects such as history of art, elements of visual arts, sketch & rendering, practice on workshops. In addition to the mentioned base subjects, students are also taught specialized subjects such as printmaking, art criticism, art instruction, fashion & textile designing, computer aided graphics & animation.
The entrance exams that are being considered for admissions to B.Des (Fine Arts) course in the various colleges include NID DAT Prelims, CEED of IITs/NID and NIFT of National Institute of Fashion Technology. Apart from these tests, other tests like UPSEE, JET Art, CAT and admission tests of institutes also help the students get enrolled in this course.

1. The requirement for the minimum qualification is 10+2 pass in any stream namely Science, Commerce or Arts with 50% aggregate marks.
2. He/she should have passed 10+2 level examination from any recognized board /university.
3. In some institutes, the candidates are required to write an entrance test and also a interviewing or a portfolio.
4. The candidates belonging to the reserved category have relaxation in their age and percentage according to rules.
5. International applicants are also required to meet equivalence and eligibility criteria arising from the program at hand.
6. Candidates cannot be studying for any other full time course when they are seeking admission into the B.Des course.
