The Bachelors of Design or B.Des is an Undergraduate Design degree course that can be usually of four years span. This program is aimed at the reproduction of principles of design and the inculcation of creativity in the area of product, interior, graphics and many others. Through the B.Des in Interior Design program, the student is able to get information on space, colors, furniture, lighting, materials, and codes on designing beautiful and functional places such as homes, offices, restaurants, hotels.
The standard entrance exams that can be used for getting into the B.Des program include National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), National Institute of Design (NID), Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED), Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), National Aptitude Test by the University of Architecture (NPAT), or Design Aptitude Test by the Indian Institute of Art and Design (DAT), and the rest. Besides the test, there is an interview that is conducted before students are admitted into the institution.

1. Any 10+2 pass out in Science, Commerce or Arts with minimum 50% aggregate percentage of marks.
2. For example, valid score in any entrance exam such as NIFT, UCEED, NID etc. Some colleges set their own examinations during their respective intake seasons.
3. For NIFT – There is no bar on the age factor. For UCEED – There is not upper age limit for the candidates to get admission in this University.
4. It is expected that applicants should have some creative inclination, preferably in flair, drawing skills, visualization ability to express ideas, etc.
5. There is usually a priority given to those with skills in certain areas such as architecture design and the likes in some of this colleges.
6. Overseas students may also find that additional English language requirements apply, notably at the college level.
