BDes in Jewellery Design & Technology 2024: Admission Process, Eligibility, Entrance Exam

Bachelor of Design [B.Des] in Jewellery Design & Technology is a four-year undergraduate program that offers students an excellent opportunity to study the design of jewelry and procedures for creating jewelries. The normal period of the B.Des Jewellery Design & Technology program is generally four years in length. The requirement subjects of the program are principles of jewelries making, gemology, diamond technology, metalsmithing, CAD jewelry designing, manufacturing techniques and also, skills to manage a jewelries business. 

The courses for the entrance exam for admission to B.Des in Jewellery Design & Technology programmes are, NID DAT, NIFT exam, and state/ university level B.Des entrance test. The prerequisite for a majority of the courses is completion of 12 years of schooling in relevant stream with desired scores in approved design ability tests. Some institutes may also look at the candidate’s marks at the qualifying examination and/or may ask the candidate to clear a round of personal Interviews, portfolio review and vocational aptitude examination to be admitted.

BDes Jewellery Design & Technology Course Eligibility 2024

1. Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent from a university or board recognized by Indian University with at least 50% aggregate marks in the last examination. 

2. Admission in most colleges require that one should have passed Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2.  

3. A few colleges require the candidates to clear an entrance examination as in the case of NIFT or UCEED.

4. Creative disposition, drawing ability, color sensation and dispositions for visualization of ideas.

5. CD containing updated portfolio in the form of jewellery designs, sketches. 

6. English language may be required since, English is frequently used as the medium of study in most design colleges.
