BE in Bioinformatics is an undergraduate engineering degree programme in Bioinformatics, which deals with processing biological data using concepts from biology, computer science, mathematics and engineering. This full-time course takes four years, and it offers education in methods of creating databases and data storage, analysis of data, development of algorithms, and concepts of networks in the analysis of biological data. Most students study biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology computer and other areas like programming databases, algorithms, data mining, and machine learning.
The common entrance tests accepted for admissions to BE Bioinformatics programmes are JEE Main, JEE Advanced, AIEEE, AMU, BHU, Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM) , COMEDK UGET, WBJEE, UPCET and the qualifying examinations by the various state and national level examining bodies and engineering institutions. Any candidate who hold a valid score in any of these examinations can apply to BE Bioinformatics programs in respective colleges and universities.
