B.Tech (Mechatronics) is a field of engineering specialization which combines concepts from mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering and control engineering. It is a four year undergraduate program which aims at producing personnel with skills in designing, manufacturing and maintaining sophisticated automations and smart products that includes mechanical, electrical, and computer aspects.
The admission to the B.Tech Mechatronics program can be taken through the following engineering entrance exams: JEE Main, JEE Advanced, UPSEE, WBJEE, MU OET, AP EAMCET, BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, MET. Some of the colleges also accept the lateral entry for admission to the 2nd year through diploma qualifications. The minimum standard required for the course is having passed class 12 with maths, physics and chemistry as the subjects.

1. Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects and minimum 60% marks in 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
2. A valid score in any of the engineering entrance test taken at national or state level in JEE Main or in any other test like WBJEE, AP EAMCET.
3. For admission into 2nd year through lateral entry: A valid diploma in Engineering in the Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical branches with not less than 60% average score.
4. Good conceptual understanding and problem solving skills in Physics, Maths and interest in gadgets/machines would be preferred.
5. Some of the institutes even conduct the English communication skill test and logical reasoning test for admitting the students.
6. Physical fitness and freedom from color blindness defects are checked in some institutes as part of the qualifying requirements.
