2D Animation Diploma is one of the diploma level courses that can be completed in 1 year or sometimes, may take up to 2 years, for which students receive training in the fundamentals and methods of 2D animation. Starting from the basic of drawing, character designing, storyboarding to the software designing through programs like Adobe animate, Toon boom harmony etc, the student gets the understanding of 2D animation process from basics. The length of the diploma program may take 1 year for the candidates who have passed 10+2 system and 2 years for the candidates who passed 10 standard. There are also some institutes that provide 2D animation diploma courses which are shortened to a period of 6 months.
Admission requirements for joining the 2D animation diploma program depend on the policy laid down by the institute. We find that several colleges admit the candidate based on the performance in 10+2 or equivalent examination. Besides the mentioned tests, other national and state level tests are also accepted for diploma admission including NATA – National Aptitude Test in Architecture, UCEED – Under Graduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, CEED – Common Entrance Examination for Design, NID/DAT – National Institute of Design Design Aptitude Test, SOFT-CET – Symbiosis Entrance Test etc. As for the lateral entry opportunities, candidates with design, fine arts, or animation bachelor’s degree could join the diploma program from the second year.
