Diploma in Fashion Textile Design, is a one-year program designed at the diploma level of education and it provides students with practical knowledge in the area of fashion and textile designing, production and merchandising. It includes areas of fashion illustration, fashion materials, fashion design, fashion cutting and stitching, fashion merchandising and publicity. In particular students gain knowledge of the certain theories and acquire practical knowledge necessary in the sphere of fashion and textile.
The minimum admission criteria include the national level Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the various state. It is also noteworthy that some institutes may look at class 12th performance in addition to an entrance test or interview conducted by the college. Besides CET, other exams like the entrance test for National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Design Aptitude Test (DAT), test of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) and UCEED are also acceptable for admission to a Diploma in Fashion Textile Design course of a recognized institution for the academic year.

1. Class X passed in any stream from a recognized school/board with at least 50% marks.
2. There are no restrictions with regard to the discipline, it can be any – Science, Commerce or Humanities stream.
3. The specific course is not bound by any age restrictions and anyone can enroll for it.
4. Applicants have to take test and then face an interview which is conducted by the officials of the institute.
5. Drawing, other creativity skills are an added advantage but it’s not mandatory for one to draw.
6. Skills, knowledge and love toward creation of textiles, interest in fabrics, colors and textures is necessary.
