Diploma in First Aid and Practical Nursing, is a one-year diploma course, aimed at giving students adequate knowledge and practical skills in first aid and basic nursing. They include anatomical and physiological concepts, concepts related to nursing and basic first aid, concepts related to giving medication, medical emergencies. The students cover their course work through classroom tutorials, laboratory sessions and field practice.

The candidate should have higher secondary certificate or its equivalent from any recognized central or state board in any stream. Certain institutes also accept any passing grade of entrance tests such as the CPNET Exam of WBUT in West Bengal, RPVT in Rajasthan, Vyapam LPN Entrance Test in MP or any Institute Test to check language proficiency, aptitude and general knowledge

1. The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination in any stream from any recognized university or board with a minimum aggregate of fifty percent. 

2. Age limit Minimum 17 years as in date of admission. 

3. Fluent English skills required for comprehension of course material and exams. 

4. Data processing and word processing skills essential for office work and practical training and assignment. 

5. Should be able to have a similar capacity of serving and caring for patients within the hospitals. 

6. The candidates passed in 10+2 Science stream will have eligibility preference over the other students.
