Diploma in Folklore is a 1 to 2 years diploma level course that specializes in studying traditions, culture, beliefs and arts including dances, songs, tales, proverbs etc., that are followed in a particular community or group. Some of the topics include evolution of folk forms, folk literature, folk arts – folk tales, folk music, folk dances, folk plays, oral traditions, mythology, epics, etc. Students get acquainted with the process of collection and documentation of regional folk material. The goal of the program is to help students in order to focus on one of the types of research, ethnographic documentation. 

The requirement for applying for the admission of the diploma in folklore is the passed 10+2 or any other equivalent examination from any recognized board. Some institutes providing this programme have their own entrance exam which comprise of written test and interview in order to determine the interest and knowledge the students has in folk studies. Other accepted entrance exams include state level common entrance tests such as UP Diploma Entrance Test. The various factors considered in the selection of candidates include the merit in the qualifying examination, the performance in the test conducted by the concerned institute, as well as the interview, if any. They are also preferred based on the work experience in the related field and other skills they possess.

1. The basic academic standard was 10+2 pass or its equivalent from a recognized board for all these posts. Preference will be given to the students studying in the final year of graduation in any discipline, whether it is Science, Commerce or Arts.

2. There are no explicit requirements regarding certain percentage but those students who have done their graduation in Arts stream might have some background – History, Sociology, Literature etc. 

3. Final year students of 10+2 standards can also apply for the posts advertised by the company, provided they are appearing for the final examinations. They will be placed on probationary basis and shall be required to present certificate of eligibility when called for by the results. 

4. Admission into any course is usually not conditioned on any test or examination known as entrance test. Colleges are the institution which accepts the students based on the marks obtained in the class 12th. many college may provide the student with personal interview or aptitude test. 

5. The age limit criteria to applying for institutes is normally up to 22, though some institutes may consider this flexible, especially up to three years, if the applicant has some background training. They have no fixed age requirement for entry and therefore there is no minimum age for students.
