Diploma in Library and Information Science is a one year diploma level course in the field of library science. It is designed to give students necessary theoretical and practical information concerning different aspects of managing a library and its resources. Some of the areas of study in the course are classification systems, cataloguing, reference and information services, application of information and communication technologies in libraries.

The minimum qualification to apply for admission in Diploma in Library and Information Science course is 10+2 in any stream. Some of the institutes that accept this course have the condition where the candidates have to produce national level entrance exams UGAT, SET, CAT. Certain colleges also have their own form of written examination that is followed by an interview when selecting students to be offered a place in this diploma programme. Passing in 10+2 exams can also be used to prepare merit list also to select students to be admitted in the university.

Diploma in Library and Information Science Course Eligibility 2024

1. A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in any stream from a recognized board. 

2. The minimum age required to enroll in this course is there is no maximum or minimum age requirement to enroll in this course. There is no age requirement for candidates, anyone can freely apply.

3. It is important to note that this course is available to any candidate regardless of their previous education in Arts, Commerce or Science.  

4. This course also offers both regular and distance mode of education facilities.

5. While some institutes may have their entrance exams for admissions the other may offer direct admissions based on the 10+2 results.

6. The course therefore does not require much knowledge of computers and typing skills although it would be an added advantage for candidates.
