The Diploma in Medical Equipment Technician Course is a 1 to 2 years diploma course and the main aim of the course is to qualify the students as medical equipment technicians. Among the compulsory topics there are basic knowledge about electronics, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, operation and maintenance of the medical equipment, safety requirements, the problem of quality assurance etc. Students find out about the ways of detecting possible defects in the equipment, assembling, adjusting, and troubleshooting of many electronic, mechanical and optical medical instruments utilized in hospitals and other health care centers.
Generally no specific entry requirement is required for diploma in medical equipment technician course but the applicant should have completed class 12 in science stream subjects. Certain institutes may have their own tests that are taken by the candidate as a means of evaluating his/her aptitude, interest and knowledge pertaining to the program. Other requirements include the minimum passing marks in the board examination in physics chemistry math and English of the candidate’s class XII.
