The Diploma in Visual Media Communication is a 1 to 2 year diploma level course which covers Media and Communication. This course involves an understanding of a number of areas in visual media such as photography, video making, graphics, animations, advertisements among others for students who take this course. The curriculum thus encompasses knowledge and training in theoretical applications of the subject areas as well as practice in the practical application of the skills across different domains in visual and media related fields. Some of the main areas of focus include design concepts, video creation, laws of media and communication, advertising, photography, graphic designing and the like. Media coursework assignments entails exposure of the students to a number of media projects. The duration of the program is one year, for candidates who complete a 12th grade education and two years for those with a grade 10 education.

The Diploma in Visual Media Communication course targets both arts and non arts students from relevant qualifications. The National level entrance examination acceptable at various institutes are NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design), NID exam and UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design). Some of the other tests are also used as eligibilities criteria by many institutes like class 12 results, qualifying exams scores. However, some of them use Entrance examination and interview in selecting students to join this program from colleges.
