Wood carving design course as the name suggests is a one year diploma course which aims to provide education on carving out designs on woods. They get acquainted with the use of tools, techniques of carving wood and also the techniques of carving woods of different parts of the world; they practice carving wood and designing furniture and decorative items out of wood. But the program takes only 1 year, this is because the last semester entails a student undergoing an internship.
The diploma course is intended for arts/crafts or a related school leaving education. Other tests which are considered for admission are NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) and DAT (Design Aptitude Test) that check an aspirant’s inventive and creative thinking along with knowledge of material used, techniques applied, management and presentation.

1. Minimum qualification is matriculation/10+2 pass in any stream from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
2. The candidates who are going to appear for the 10+2 examination can also apply for the post.
3. To apply for the course there is no restricted age limit with more emphasis on the applicants character.
4. It is however desirable that the person who will be selected for this position should have rudimentary knowledge of drawing and sketching.
5. The candidates must have a certain inclination and passion towards arts such as sculpture, painting, etc.
6. Desirable candidate: physically fit for the job since it involves a lot of work on projects for long hours.
