Diploma in Textile Design is an Undergraduate diploma awarded course in the field of Textiles, which lasts for three years. This course prepares those who have a desire to design diverse fabrics and textile products such as apparels, bed linen, carpets, furnishings. The subjects covered in textile designing include pattern making, designs, printing methods, manufacturing techniques, colour combinations, and understanding of textile material and processing. The students are able to achieve familiarity and mastery with the design software and tools that are used in the market.
Textile design diploma courses are available for learners after their 10th or 12th standard of education. Consequently, there is no specific entrance examination that prospective students must sit to gain admission into the university. Admissions are as per merit of the qualifying exam or depending on the students’ performance in an aptitude test and interview held by the textile institute. For students who passed 10+2 and are seeking admission in second year of the course, the institute conducts another lateral entry entrance exam right from the basic knowledge and design ability.
