DNB in Hand Surgery is a 3 year post MBBS super specialty medical course in India to become a qualified and recognised Diplomate in Hand Surgery from the Diplomate National Board. The specialty is devoted to the diagnosis and surgical management of disorders, trauma and diseases of the hand, wrist and forearm. DNB Hand Surgery envisages to produce well equipped and highly specialized surgeons with trained focus on number of disorders of hand and upper extremity including trauma, arthritis, congenital anomaly, nerve compression syndromes, tumours, infections.
It is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) that is an official body. The candidate should be a postgraduate in General Surgery or Orthopedics and also must have MS/DNB in Hand Surgery. Admission into the various programs is done based on an entrance examination set by the NBE. The entrance exams allowed are NEET SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Specialty), or any other State Level PG entrance test. During the 3-year training program, clinical rotations, academic credits, research and surgical experience under supervision is offered to the residents.

1. MBBS degree with one year internship experience from a recognized university approved by medical council of India MCI.
2. Professional experience: Three years post MBBS work experience in the field of General Surgery.
3. At least, the candidate shall have published Minimum 2 research papers as the first author in Indexed Publisher Journals as prescribed above.
4. Medical registration certification of practicing of any state medical council of India or MCI valid.
5. One year Hand Surgery training in MCI recognized medical college with an additional 6 months training after the completion of 1 year.
6. Said examination qualified as the DNB CET examination of NBE with applicable reservation policies.
