The Drawing and Painting Master of Arts (MA) is a postgraduate program that offers in-depth expertise in techniques and ideas of contemporary drawing, painting, art theory, and history. It usually takes 2 years to complete and enables the students to specialize in painting and drawing media: oil/pastel/watercolor/acrylic and charcoal or any other materials of their choice The course introduces students to studio practice and encourages them to think critically about art in contemporary society In addition, the course enables students to establish personal voice and a portfolio.
The entrance examination accepted for admission in the MA Drawing and Painting degree are as follows: – NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) conducted by IIT Bombay. UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design) scores are also considered by many of these colleges. During the admission process, applicants are assessed on the basis of a portfolio, interview, and entrance examination apart from other measures.

1. The candidate must have completed the Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Visual Arts from a recognized University with not less than 50% aggregate marks.
2. For candidates from other disciplines a one year bridge course or clearing the national level test is mandatory. Original artwork portfolio has to be presented for admission process.
3. It has no age restrictions at all. Those who possess passion in visual arts and willing to make a career as professional artists can apply after passing graduation degree.
4. Certain institutes take entrance test in combination with interview to assess the candidates’ interests, creativity and abilities in the areas of drawing and painting before admitting them for the course.
5. Overseas candidates should have equivalence certificate of their Bachelor’s degree from Association of Indian Universities (AIU). IELTS scores are also needed sometimes for academic purposes or employment.
6. Minimum percentage to pass a subject may range between 45% to 50 % for reserved category candidates depending on the government norms of the particular college/ University where the candidate is studying.
