Master of Arts (MA) in Journalism is a postgraduate program that equips students with knowledge on different aspects of journalism and media. The MA Journalism course generally takes 2 years for completion and is spread over four semesters. The learning process encompasses subjects such as news reporting, media laws and ethics, research methods, media advertising, public relations and together with the specialized fields of the media which include the print media, Television, new media and/or investigative journalism.
The entrance examinations acknowledged for admissions to the MA Journalism courses are CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, CMAT, GMAT, NPAT and state level test. Qualifying examination scores such as that of BA, BSc, BJMC are also taken into consideration by some colleges Besides the entrance test, candidates have to take writing skill assessment tests and personal interviews for admission to MA Journalism courses.

1. Graduation in any stream with minimum 50% marks from any university. For final year students this is also possible.
2. As for the age, there is no limitation regarding it. The candidates of any age group are eligible to apply for the posts as per the general eligibility criteria.
3. The University does not have any entrance examination for admission. These include academic performance, interview score, experience if any among others.
4. It is necessary to have good communication skills, writing skills and be interested in current affairs. Ideally, the candidate should have some practical experience in journalism.
5. In the case of reserved category students, the minimum pass marks criterion is 45% in the bachelor’s degree.
6. Foreign students must take IELTS/TOEFL for English language and equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities.
