MBA in Information Systems is a postgraduate program spanning 2 years on how technology, especially information systems can be used to address some of the business issues and acquire a competitive edge. In this course, students learn how to integrate business and IT goals, govern IT assets, use data to support business decisions, and adopt new technologies. Some of the courses offered are database management, data analysis, system analysis and design, IT project management and strategic management of IT.
Common entrance exams accepted for admission into the MBA Information Systems program are: GRE or GMAT, that proves the applicant’s quantitative, verbal, analytical and writing abilities. Some institutes may also accept CAT, XAT, MAT exams done in India. About 2-3 years or more working experience in IT or business analysis is desirable for one to get admission into any university of their choice for this course.

1. Candidates must possess minimum 50% marks in any stream from a recognized university for the bachelor’s degree. Preference is given to candidates who have a technology or computer science background.
2. A valid score in CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT or any other relevant national level management entrance test. In addition, some institutes may also have a written examination for selection as well.
3. It is mandatory to have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience before one can seek admission in any premier B-school. Prior experience in IT or any technical oriented positions is desirable.
4. Other attributes screened during selection process include interpersonal communication, problem solving skills, leadership and aptitude for a managerial career.
5. The documents needed from the applicants include Marksheets & Degree Certificates, Entrance Test Scorecard, Professional Experience Certificates, Academic Letters of Recommendation.
6. Based on academic performance, entrance test scores, work experience, co-curricular activities, and interviews are used in making the selection decision.
