The M.Com in Accounting and Finance is a postgraduate programme which offers sophisticated and effective knowledge and expertise in the field of accounting and finance, taxation, auditing and matched disciplines. This course normally takes 2 years to complete and plays a key role in preparing the students for analytical and managerial responsibilities in accounting and finance careers. It offers programs in some fields such as financial accounting, management accounting, corporate finance, investment analysis, financial markets, quantitative methods, research methods, and among others.  

The admission requirements for M.Com Accounting and Finance involve the scores obtained in CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, GMAT, AMCAT, and state level entrance tests. The exam dates for the respective courses vary depending on the semester, and they are conducted between November and May every year. Some colleges also accept students on the basis of his/her scores in the bachelor’s. While applying, it is crucial to note that the application season usually falls between June and September every year.

MCom Accounting and Finance Course Eligibility 2024

1. The candidate should have completed their graduation with a bachelor’s degree in commerce or its allied fields such as accounting, economics, finance, and banking etc., with not less than 50 percent aggregate marks from a recognized university.

2. It is seen that many a times college may specify that mathematics is compulsory at graduation standard or at least in class twelfth. 

3. Some institutes may also have additional prerequisite such as work experience in accounting, auditing or in any related finance field.

4. Common tests such as CAT/MAT/ XAT or state level entrance tests may be necessary for entry into some of the best B-schools offering M.Com.

5. As for the recruitment policy, there is no age limit, and people from different stages in their education or employment can apply.

6. IELTS/TOEFL may be necessary for foreign students for admission depending on the course they are applying to.

MCom Accounting and Finance Entrance Exams

1. CAT – Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs is an entrance exam that comprises of Questions checking verbal ability, quantitative ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning. 

2. XAT – Xavier Admission Test carried out by XLRI examines logical reasoning, decision making, quantitative, verbal and analytical skills.

3. CMAT – Common Management Admission Test which is conducted by AICTE gives weightage to the tests like quantitative section, logical reasoning, language knowledge, and general knowledge.

4. MAT that is Management Aptitude Test conducted by AIMA is aimed at assessing the intelligence, language ability, basic mathematical computation, data analysis and interpretation.

5. ATMA – AIMS Test for Management Admissions by AIMA include assessment of quantitative ability, verbal skills, analytical ability, and logical ability.
