M.Com (Master of Commerce) in Taxation is a post graduate course which aims to provide the students with concepts and knowledge of taxation laws, financial policies and accounting. This university level course takes usually 2 years of study and includes the study of taxation disciplines distributed over 4 semesters. The course curriculum covers areas such as income tax laws, corporate tax planning, tax management, indirect taxes, global taxation system with emphasis on GST.

This course has educational eligibility criteria that any candidate must possess a graduate degree. The entrance tests that are considered for admission by different universities and colleges offering the M.Com Taxation course are: CAT, MAT, ATMA, XAT, CMAT, GMAT and state level tests such as MAH-CET, TSICET, GCET, KMAT, APICET, OUAT. Some institutes also offer admission to the students as per the mark they secure in post graduation.

MCom Taxation Course Eligibility 2024

1. Any graduate having a post graduate degree in any subject from a recognized University or institute with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. 

2. Mathematics as one of the subjects at + 2 level or graduation level.

3. Some institutes may prefer the candidates who have the work experience in the taxation or the accounting field. 

4. No age limit. 

5. Standard tests such as CAT/MAT may be necessary to undertake in order to be admitted into some of the most renowned institutes. 

6. It would also be helpful for non-native English speaking students to produce their IELTS/TOEFL scores depending on the course.

MCom Taxation Entrance Exams

1. CAT – Common Admission Test which is conducted by IIMs for admissions to MBA / PGDM and other courses like M.Com. 

2. CMAT – Common Management Admission Test which is conducted for admission to the AICTE recognised management programs such as M.Com.

3. IGNOU OPENMAT: Open Management Aptitude Test is conducted by IGNOU for admission into management courses offered by IGNOU such as M.Com.

4. Delhi University ET – Entrance examination for postgraduate courses, specifically M.Com in Delhi University.

5. BHU PET – It stands for Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test through which the university offers admission to its postgraduate courses, including M.Com.
