The MFA program in Ceramics is a graduate program that aims at enhancing students’ skill and knowledge in ceramics. Most MFA Ceramics programs take two to three years to complete and include a combination of studio practice and ceramics arts theory. A student in an MFA Ceramics program, develops specialized knowledge in ceramic materials, hand building and throwing skills, glaze formulation, kiln firing, and the student refines his/her style and vision as a ceramic artist. Competition for admission to MFA Ceramics programs is very stiff across the United States where many programs enroll 6-12 students per year at most times.
