Medical Informatics is a Master’s degree course designed to provide knowledge in the field of use of information technology in healthcare and medicine. It includes areas such as healthcare data management, health informatics, telehealth, Bioinformatics. This course takes approximately 2 years but can be completed within a span of 18 months to 3 years depending on the college or university that offers the course.
The entrance examinations in which applicant can seek for admission in M.Sc (Medical Informatics): CUCET PG, GATE, and state level or institute level exams conducted by few universities and colleges across the country. The eligibility criteria in general comprises of a Bachelors degree in any scientific stream, Engineering or Medicine and there can be minimum marks.

1. Candidate must have a bachelors’ degree in any field such as Science, Arts, Commerce or any technical field such as Engineering with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university.
2. It is open to the students after graduation whether they are coming from medical or non-medical courses.
3. As for the admission to the college, there are no restrictions on age. So, both, young people who finished their first degree, and those who already have their job and want to change it, can apply.
4. Those who are in the final standard of the graduation can also apply in the provisional basis.
5. While some institutes have their own entrance exams, others focus on the score of other exams like GATE, CAT.
6. Preference will be given for candidates who have computer operation skills and IT, networking, database management or any related experience.
