Biotechnology is the application of science to the improvement of living organisms for the production of commercial products, and Master of Science (MS) in Biotechnology is a postgraduate program. It is a multidisciplinary field of study that is closely associated with the use of science, engineering and technology to control biological systems for industrial or any other uses. The duration of the MS Biotechnology program is typically 2 years full time.
The entrance exams that are considered for admission to MS Biotechnology are GATE – Biotechnology, CSIR NET, GPAT, individual tests conducted by institutes. There are some institutes which take into consideration the performance of the candidate in the Bachelor’s degree science programs for admission. GRE and TOEFL scores may be necessary for foreign students who wish to gain admittance in Indian institutes.
