Master of Science or M.Sc. In Geography is an academic degree program offered at postgraduate level in the specialty of Geography. It is often a 2-year full time program that builds upon advanced knowledge of the subject matter as well as research skills in different sub-disciplines of Geography including Geomorphology, Climatology, Hydrology, Natural Resources Management, and Geo-informatics among others. It builds on the previous year’s theme of physical and human environments by enhancing students’ knowledge about these concepts.
The entrance exams accepted for admission into the M.Sc. program include those in mathematics and statistics, computer science, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and microbiology. Some of the popular geography examination include UGC NET, CSIR NET and INSPIRE exam conducted by DST, state or university level test such as TANCET, KSET, OUAT exam etc Some institutes and universities conduct direct admission based on the performance of student in the relevant bachelor degree. The candidates who have attained qualified score in the GATE examination in Geography may also be considered in some of the colleges.
