M.Sc Toxicology is a two-year master’s degree program in toxicology which is the science of poisons and toxins. Some of the topics covered at a Master of Science in Toxicology include biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, molecular biology, chemistry, environmental health and risk assessment concerning toxic agents or toxic products. The period spent studying M.Sc Toxicology is about 2 years split into 4 semesters. This curriculum offer enhanced information on various types of poisons, impact of poisons on the organisms, manner of toxicity as well as diagnostic and therapeutic methods of treating cases of poisoning. They get to balance toxicity data in order to establish suitability of the compound for human and animal consumption. They acquire knowledge on experimental toxicology for pharmaceuticals and chemicals, testing procedures employed by industries and research institutions, and policies formulated by the regulatory bodies.

For the purpose of admission in the M.Sc Toxicology course, CSIR UGC NET for Junior Research Fellowship, GATE, university entrance tests such as, DUET, BHU PET, JNUEE etc and on the basis of graduation percentage also some of the institutes provide admission. Applicants with prior knowledge in any subject involving science such as Zoology, Botany, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medicine can apply for this course. Prior work experience in the offered fields can also prove fruitfully beneficial for the candidates during admission. This cost varies from INR 20,000 to 5 lakhs in the Indian institutes depending on the type of instututions.
