Doctor of Philosophy in Healthcare and Hospital Management is a post graduate level course in healthcare management that involves the knowledge of various facets of healthcare administration such as public health policies, hospital planning and functioning, quality management, and the like. The duration of Ph.D. in Healthcare and Hospital Management is usually three years. The course content offers the further enhancement of the knowledge in the subject area including the healthcare laws, healthcare economics, healthcare information systems, current issues and challenges of healthcare, etc., in addition to the combination of compulsory and elective subjects, seminars, journal clubs and dissertations. The majority of programs have extensive classroom study in the first two years and then proceed to the third year of intense research which includes writing a dissertation.
Some of the accepted entrance exams for Ph.D. in Healthcare and Hospital Management programs in India are: IIT JAM, GATE, JEST, TIFR GS, JNUEE, UGC NET, State level entrance exams such as Odisha CPET, Telangana PGECET, Kerala entrance exam and other entrance tests conducted by universities.
