Medical Biochemistry is a postgraduate course that is offered at the doctoral level of study and is designed to educate students on the specialty of biochemistry, which is inclined to medicine and health. This is a post-3 or 4 years degree that offers more advanced theoretical and research knowledge in matters such as molecular biology, genetics, immunology, physiology amongst others but in the context of medicine. Students get to learn biochemical processes concerning the human body and diseases, infections, treatments, etc this will help them if they want to further their studies and make a career in the research and academic field in areas such as medical laboratories, pharma industries, biotechnology industries among others.
The entrance examinations accepted in order to be admitted to Ph.D. Medical Biochemistry in the various universities in India are as follows; NET Life Sciences, G.A.T.E (Biotechnology/Life sciences),Joint CSIR-UGC NET,ICMR JRF, IIT JAM (Biotechnology/Life sciences), state level eligibility tests SLET, university written test after an interview. Master in Biochemistry or related science is also necessary and the candidate must achieve good grades in his or her academics. The applicants’ area of specialization, the research proposal, and performance in tests and interviews are taken into account in making the final decision.
