Doctor of Project Management is a terminal, postgraduate academic degree that prepares learners for the identification, planning, development, and management of academic and workplace projects. It takes 3-5 years for a full-time candidate to complete their Ph.D. in Project Management. Program’s course work encompasses, project management leadership, risk, project portfolio management, research methods and dissertation. Students have to engage in a lot of research and complete a dissertation in order to produce a work that contributes to the generation of new knowledge or its enhancement in the project management field.

The common graduate-level entrance exams accepted for admission into the Ph.D. Project Management programs are: GMAT, GRE, CAT, MAT and GATE etc for management, graduate, common and Engineering programs respectively. Candidates should preferably be holders of masters in engineering, technology, management or any related field. Other important criterion that is given much attention while considering application for the position includes work experience in project execution or management. The past admission procedures include entrance tests results, academic results, written statement of purpose, letters of recommendation and interview results.

Ph.D. (Project management) Course Eligibility 2024

1. A post graduate in any stream with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university is essential. Candidates must have a valid GATE/NET score The eligibility criteria of the applicant is that she/he should have a valid GATE/NET score.

2. Applicants with 2-3 years work experience in project management or related fields shall be considered desirable. Some of the expectations for the job include: Exposure to research is an added advantage.

3. In order to apply for the post, candidates need to clear an entrance test conducted by the university/institute, as well as face an interview session. 

4. For any course, fluency in English is an added advantage since English is the medium used in writing the study and dissertation.

5. The age of the candidates that may apply for this post must be between 28 to 45 years though it has some leeway concerning the candidates of the reserved category.

6. This is undertaken in line with such factors as academic performance, scores in the entrance test, research capabilities, work experience and performance in the interview to determine the successful candidates to be hired.

5. MAT – Patterned on the assessment of intelligence and problem solving aptitudes in various fields

6. CMAT – Tests the aptitude and proficiency in quantitative ability, logical reasoning, language comprehension and analytical skills of the candidates.
