Applied Mathematics as a Doctor of Philosophy degree, usually takes 3-5 years to complete and is designed to offer profound understanding of mathematical concepts and their implementation in different fields. The students engage in advanced studies in such fields as numerical analysis, operations research, mathematical modeling and computing sciences etc. It offers postgraduate degree in areas such as partial differential equations, stochastic processes, nonlinear dynamics, optimization theory, computational mathematics. The course work produced in this program helps the students to gain specialized knowledge and skills to solve problems in scientific, engineering, commercial and industrial fields.

Standardized tests accepted for admission into Ph.D. Applied Mathematics programs include: GRE (Graduate Record Examination) – the general test &GRE Mathematics subject test, which covers single- & multivariable calculus and their applications, linear algebra, differential equations, and basic real analysis. In some cases, other universities may also consider applicants’ GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) scores in place of GRE. The candidates should possess a sound academic qualification with a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or any other quantitatively related field to be deemed eligible for the post.
