Ph.D. (Botany) is a 3-year course in Doctoral research programme in plant sciences. Students in this course undertake research at an advanced level in various specialty areas of botany such as plant physiology, ecology, taxonomy, genetics, molecular biology, plant pathologies, etc. The research focuses on discovery of new knowledge and growth of knowledge frontiers in the plant sciences domain. The time taken to complete a Ph.D. in Botany is usually three years and entails course work in the early semesters, then the preparation of a thesis, and the viva voce test.
The entrance examination that are recognized for admission to Ph.D. Botany in different university of India are CSIR UGC NET JRF, UGC NET, GATE, ICMR JRF, ICAR NET, state level test like ORISSA CPET, KERALA RMCAAT, TELANGANA PGCET etc some of the university also accept candidates based on their performance in test like JEST. These exams and fellowship scorecards are used when it comes to selecting students who will undertake the Ph.D. Botany program.
