Ph.D. in Public Health program is a Doctorate in public health that prepares students for conducting research and analysis in public and community health. The normal course of Ph.D. Public Health for a full-time student is between 4 to 6 years. The curriculum entails several complex courses such as biostatistics as well as epidemiology, health policy, environmental health sciences, social and behavioral sciences and elective depending on the area of focus. Original research work and writing of dissertation is the cardinal requirement for any student to complete his academic program.

1. Candidates possessing Master’s degree in public health or any other relevant field, securing minimum of 55% marks from any university recognized by the University Grants Commission are eligible for the post.
2. It generally requires qualification in entrance exam like GATE or CSIR-UGC NET or any other examination approved equivalent to this. It is also standard for some institutes to conduct their own tests.
3. Experience in public health or community medicine is also desirable in most of the institutes as mentioned above.
