Ph.D. (Veterinary Parasitology) is a postgraduate academic degree program which is concerned with the study of parasites that affect animals owned by humans or those found in the wild. This includes higher research in the life sciences, – particularly as they relate to these parasites, their spread, treat and prevent/control them. The duration of earning a Ph.D. normally takes 4-6 years for completion consisting of coursework, and a dissertation which is a result of research carried out by the individual. They do specialized classes in subtopics such as immunology of parasites, molecular parasitology, diagnostic parasitology, anti-parasitic drugs and vaccines

The common entrance exams accepted for admission into Ph.D. Veterinary Parasitology programs are: GRE (Graduate Record Examination); VCI (Veterinary Council of India) Common Entrance Test for P.G. Diploma & Ph.D.; Agricultural University entrance tests for the Ph.D. courses like PAU (Punjab Agriculture University) and RAJUVAS (Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Science). In addition to the master’s degree in veterinary science, good grades in these exams are necessary for a Ph.D. (Veterinary Parasitology).

PhD Veterinary Parasitology Course Eligibility 2024

1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) or equivalent degree recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI)

2. Minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) in BVSc & AH

3. Qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ICAR or CSIR or UGC or similar tests accredited by UGC

4. Masters degree in Veterinary Parasitology or allied disciplines with minimum OGPA of 6.00 out of 10.0 or 60% marks

5. Good academic record with no failures or backlogs during BVSc & AH and Masters programs

6. Minimum 2 years of research/teaching experience in the field of Veterinary Parasitology after completing Masters degree

7. Qualifying the entrance exam conducted by the university/institute offering the PhD Veterinary Parasitology program

8. Clearing the personal interview round conducted by the university/institute selection committee
