The Ph.D. in veterinary surgery and radiology is the 3-year doctoral research program offered by very few veterinary educational institutions throughout India. The BVSc & AH degree proves that the candidates have successfully completed a 5.5-year program, and during the Master's degree an applicant specializes in surgery and radiology.
ASRB NET/SLET and university admissions tests are only criterions deciding admissions. The coursework of the Ph.D. curriculum is initiated at 6 months with a module covering various aspects of research methodology, veterinary surgery, radiology, pharmacology, biostatistics, and ethics. Then 2.5 years gets spent on research in various labs or hospitals plus thesis writing.

1. M.V.Sc. degree in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology or allied disciplines from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade point.
2. Qualification in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ICAR/CSIR or similar examination like SLET/SET.
3. Candidates with M.Sc. degree and post graduate diploma in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology are also eligible, subject to the condition that they have at least 60% marks or an equivalent overall grade point average.
4. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and differently-abled categories, relaxation of 5% marks at the Master’s level is permissible.
5. Candidates already holding Ph.D. degree in any discipline are not eligible.
