Doctor of Philosophy is the most advanced degree a university can award to a student in India. Usually, in a Ph.D. program, you will take 3-5 years including coursework and writing the dissertation. In the beginning, students engage in 1-2 years' courses covering their area of student's specialty, the sciences, engineering, humanities or social sciences. This allows them to get ahead with their studies by being able to tell an original research problem they’ll be solving.
The following step will be for the aspirants to undergo the basic qualifying test for the assessment of the conceptual knowledge. Students who made the cut shall move forward to the research course stage with the help of an instructor. In this definition, it consists of organizing research activities, performing experiments or filed-archival work, analyzing the data, and documenting the results in an extensive dissertation which generally ranges between 100-300 pages.
