Post Graduate Diploma in Banking which is a post graduate level course in banking and financial field. This course in general, takes a period of 1 to 2 years and has an objective to impart detailed understanding on the banking sector to the graduates. Some of the courses offered in PGDB are accounting, core banking, corporate banking, credit risk management, international finance, treasury management, investment banking and capital markets, etc. The subjects taught in PGDB therefore rely more on practical implementation of the concepts as opposed to the theoretical knowledge of banking and financial systems.
The entrance tests that are considered for the admission of the candidates in PG Diploma in Banking include CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, IIFT and other national MBA entrance tests. Other ways to gain entry into these PGDB programs include, taking state level examinations like MAH-CET, TS ICET etc, or any other entrance examination conducted at the university/institute level for admission to PGDB programs. Additional experience in banking, finance or any related field is a conspicuous advantage to the applicants.

1. Minimum of a four-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent for any discipline with not less than 50% aggregate marks.

5. English language is used for teaching and communication, therefore, achieving fluency in this language is a necessity.
6. Some of the institutes may look for candidates with some period of work experience especially in the banking and financial services but this is not compulsory.
1. NIMCET – It stands for National Institute of Bank Management Common Entrance Test conducted for admission of students to the one-year postgraduate diploma in banking programme.
2. IBSAT – ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test to take admission in the two year PGDBM programme in banking and financial services.
3. RBI Grade B – Recruiting for officers in Grade B at managerial level banking jobs.
4. JAIIB is another popular professional examination conducted by IIBF specifically for junior level banking positions and offers certification.
5. CAIIB – The examination conducted by IIBF for the qualification in Advanced Banking for the enhancement of banking career.
