Detective science course is a Post Graduate Diploma program that takes 1 year for completion with the aim of producing special students with skills and techniques in solving difficult crimes. Some of the areas of study in this diploma course include Criminology, Forensic Science, Cyber Criminals, Investigative Laws, Surveillance and Interrogation techniques. The total number of months to complete this diploma program is 12 months based on 2 semesters of 6 months each.
The admission in Post Graduate Diploma in Detective Science Course is given to the candidate who has passed graduation degree in any stream. The accepted entrance exams for admissions are: UGC-NET for JRF, CSIR-NET for JRF, Graduation with minimum 60% marks in any stream from any recognized university or Institute which is approved by UGC/AICTE. The admission is given according to the candidate’s CGPA in graduation and personal interview round organized by the Institute.

2. There is no maximum age requirement though it is important for candidates to be in good health both physically and mentally.
3. Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology /mathematics / computer science.
4. Skills, which are necessary for successful completion of the program, include effective interpersonal and verbal communications, ability to think logically, observe, and possess analytical mind.
5. Experience in investigation or law enforcement agencies may be preferred by some institutes as they require skills to investigate and solve problems.
6. In some cases, candidates are required to clear an entrance exam set by the institutes where they want to get admitted.
