PU CET is a university level entrance exam which is conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh for the candidates who desire to get admission into various undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degree programs in the several colleges which are affiliated to Panjab University across Punjab State and Chandigarh. PU CET is amongst the toughest entrance exams in the region. It also assesses the students’ quantitative, verbal, and analytical skills depending on the selected course at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels. PU CET is conducted for some common courses such as BTech, BCom, LLB, BA, BSc, BBA, BCA, etc. It is an pen paper based test carried out once annually for a period of two hours in the candidate’s offline mode. PU CET 2022 Merit List & Rank Card – The results were announced on July 15, 2022 on the official website puchd.ac.in. The application process for the academic year 2023/2024 is expected to begin in February 2023, while exams for the selected candidates are expected to take place in June 2023. The PU CET 2024 exam dates and important alerts will be announced in 2023 and the result for it will be announced by July 15, 2024.

How to Apply for PU CET Exam 2024?

1. Go through the requirements and see if you are eligible.

- CET Cell may have certain age and academics-related eligibility criteria that you must fulfill.

2. Know the exam details: Here the candidate is expected to know the details of the examination such as the type of question paper, number of questions, duration of examination, marking scheme etc.

- This can be checked from the official site which gives details regarding exam date, pattern, syllabus, exam centers etc. These are released quite in advance that is months before the actual exams.

3. Registration and application

- After it has been notified, students are to visit the portal and complete the PU CET application form. Provide all details accurately.

4. Pay application fees  

- The following fees are to be paid online through payment gateway during form fill up – Application Fee, Exam fees and other fees, if required.

5. Upload documents

- Provide scanned copies of photograph, signature, documents as instructed during online application process.

6. Download confirmation page 

- Save and securely store the confirmation page that is generated after the successful submission of the form safely.

7. Download admit card

- After that, download your PU CET admit card once it is released through the portal using your credentials. 

8. Appear for exam

- at last show up for the PU CET exam on the provided date at the provided exam centre as given on your admit card.

Documents Required for Apply PU CET Exam 2024

1. 10th Standard Marks Card: The required documents include the marks sheet as proof of date of birth and academic qualification in Xth standard.

2. 11th Standard Marks Card (if applicable): Students who have passed 11 std should also enclose those mark sheets.

3. Caste Certificate (if applicable): If a person wants to apply under any reserved category quotas then he/ she needs to furnish their valid caste certificate.

4. Income Certificate (if applicable): Income certificate needs to be submitted if one wants to seek various fee concessions.

5. Ration Card: A family ration card has to be submitted in case most of the time a scanned copy. 

6. Aadhar Card: Aadhar card may have to be submitted as a proof of identity/residence in all probability.

7. Passport Size Photo: The recent passport size color photo will be among the requirements to be submitted during online application form.

8. Application Fee Payment: Applicants are required to submit the application fee via online payment methods through payment gateways.

PU CET Exam Preparation Tips 2024

1. One must have a thorough knowledge of the exam pattern.

Check the exam pattern, number of sections, types of questions etc Out analyse the previous years’ question papers to determine the overall level of difficulty as well as the topic covered.

2. Prepare a timetable and strictly follow it. 

Prepare a time table by giving reasonable time durations based on your convenience for each subject. Planning is essential and there should be some kind of system. Make sure that your time is equally distributed amongst subjects and that none of the topics are being skipped.

3. Pay Attention to Contentful/Content Chapters.

It is advisable to go through PU CET syllabus and pay more attention to topics that carry a greater percentage of the total marks. For maths – Trigonometry, Co-ordinate geometry, Calculus should be given more importance. Thus for Physics – Mechanics, Electricity, Magnetism etc.

4. Tackle Past Papers. 

The most important strategy that should be adopted is solving past 10-15 years PU CET papers. Assess yourself – your weaknesses and strengths. Efforts at strengthening the weaker twos.

5. Practice Mock Tests  

It would be beneficial if you appear for mock tests every week to evaluate your progress. It will enable you to budget your time appropriately and experience the real pressure that one is likely to face when sitting for an exam.

6. Clear your Basics

Several questions are formed on the basics, hence, it is necessary to have formulas, concepts and theories clear. Focus on developing your ideas and central themes.

7. Take Breaks

Don't over exert yourself. Sitting for long without taking breaks is not good for health. This time can be used to highlight important concepts and formulae. Maintain work life balance.
