The Assam Agricultural University (AAU) is a state university of agriculture established in the year 1969, located in Jorhat, Assam, India. It was founded in 1969 and is affiliated to the University Grants Commission (UGC), and awarded ‘A’ grade score by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 3.11 on a four point scale. In the NIRF ranking 2023, AAU placed at 71st in agriculture university in the country.
The programmes for which admission is available in AAU includes the undergraduate and post graduate programmes offered in faculty of agriculture, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, fisheries science, home science and allied science faculties. Some of these major streams are: BSc in Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries Science, Dairy Technology, BVSc in Veterinary Science, BTech in Agricultural Engineering, MSc and PhD in specialties such as Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Agricultural Economics. The admission to UG courses is made based on ICAR-AIEEA and Assam Agricultural University Admission Test (AAUT). For PG programs, admission is offered based on the performance in entrance test with reference to the merit of the qualifying examination.

Assam Agricultural University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Minimum 50% aggregate of 10+2 in science stream for the undergraduate courses such as BSc Agriculture, Horticulture.
2. Hold bachelor’s degree in concerned subjects with minimum 50% marks for masters’ programs such as M.Sc Agriculture, Horticulture.
3. Competent in ICAR’s All India Entrance Examination for admission in undergraduate and post graduate courses.
4. No age limit. In accordance with norms, ex merrit relaxation for the reserved category students.
5. NET for Ph.D program with master’s degree in the concerned subject for the candidates with qualifying marks only.
6. Final admittance in any program depends on the interview/counseling process in any university.
Assam Agricultural University Placements 2024
The university has its placement cell where different companies take placement of the students of the university. And in the Placement Season 2023, nearly 75 organizations were involved in the campus recruitment and more than 80% of the student turned out to secure job placements. Some of the reputed organizations which offer placements to AAU students are Tata Steel, Godrej Agrovet, ITC, Reliance Retail, Idea Vodafone. The highest salary package, as per the current trend, was grabbed by an ITC offer for Rs. 145000 per annum. The salary pattern observed for freshers ranged from an average of Rs 4 lakhs per annum to Rs 6.5 lakhs per annum. On an average, students from the AAU find job placements in leading agribusiness, food & hospitality sectors, research organizations.
