It was established in the year 1996 under the sponsorship of Babu Banarasi Das Charitable Trust of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Also, it was in the year 2010 that BBDU was recognized by UGC and was awarded accreditation grade ‘A’ by NAAC. As per NIRF ranking of 2023, BBDU was placed in the band of 151-200 in the bracket of universities in India.
The university has various courses in all branches of learning at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels of study including engineering, management, commerce, computer applications, journalism and mass communication, education, law and many more. The most sought after programs include B.Tech, MBA, B.Com, BA LLB, BCA, B.Ed. The process of admission begins in the month of January and candidates those who want to take admission have to give exams such as UPSEE, BBDUET for getting the admission and after that counseling session. Based on general trends, the exams for the 2024 batch should be conducted around May-June 2023.
With regards to placements, BBDU boasts a great placement percentage and some of the biggest companies like Capgemini, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, etc. recruiting directly from the campus. The top Recruiting Sectors were IT, Sales Marketing and Banking Finance and Insurance sectors in 2022 where 84 companies had performed campus placements for which 420 candidates had registered themselves and out of them 75% candidates had got placed. The maximum salary given to the student was Rs 18 LPA while the median salary was Rs 4.5 LPA. Major hiring domains are – IT, analytics, banking, and education. The placement and internship cell remains active to coordinate with various organizations and industries to maintain good nexus and corporate world connection for offering jobs for the students.

Babu Banarasi Das University Lucknow is one of the best universities in this regard and it has very a good record of placements. The industries like TCS, Infosys, Wipro Tech and Tech Mahindra frequently come to the campus for recruitment of students. Toppers of OPJEE also bagged the highest salary package of Rs 18 lakh per annum offered by Optum Global Solutions in 2022. A pay package in the company varies between 400000-600000 rupees per year approximately. Byju’s, Genpact, Flipkart and HCL technologies are some of the other best recruiting companies.
