Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT), Tiruchirappalli is one of the premier Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu which is an autonomous institution functioning under the umbrella of Anna University, Chennai. BIT was established in 1984 and has been granted autonomous status by the university grant commission and ISO 9001:2015 certification. Situated in central Mumbai, the campus of BIT spans across 126 acres and the institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees in engineering streams. With regard to the ranking, the institute has been performing well and has secured a position among the top one hundred engineering colleges in the country as per the NIRF ranking in 2023. It has NAAC accreditation along with A+ grade for its curriculum, faculty, research and development, as well as placements. 

It has total 6 undergraduate engineering programs which are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Information Technology and 8 postgraduate programs. The examination for these programs is compulsory and the tentative dates are set in the month of October-December 2023. The candidate selection is done through TNEA counselling for BIT for entry to B.Tech programmes and management quota for B.Tech admission and GATE for M.Tech admission. It is filled online through an application form which is put up on the institute website by February, 2024 for the 2024-25 session. Contenders who secure a place in the shortlist have to face personal interview sessions in April and May annually.  

Employment statistics coupled with high industry interface: BIT boasts of a high placement record with many of the MNCs in automobile, IT/software, core engineering and manufacturing sectors recruiting graduates. Notably, India’s leading recruiters such as Bosch, Ford Motors, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, L&T, TVS Motors, Ashok Leyland and HPCL have recruited 400+ students of the 2022 batch offering the highest salary package of Rs 32 lakhs per annum. The highest salary package offered was 7 lakhs per annum which was an average salary package offered to the students. Bharathidasan Institute of Technology, Anna University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Candidate should have passed 10+2 Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects. 

2. For admission to the BTech programs, the candidate must have obtained 45% marks in total of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. 

3. For MTech programs candidate should have a BE/BTech degree in the respective specialized area with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.  

4. For MCA program, candidate should be a graduate and should have Mathematics/Computer Science/Statistics/Computer Applications/Business Mathematics/Business Statistics as one of the subjects securing not less than 50% in aggregate.

5. Government rules allow candidates under the categories of SC/ST/OBCs to have a lower percentage of aggregate than the general category candidates.

6. Also, to be considered, each candidate must meet any of the conditions stipulated by Anna University that may apply to the specific programs of their choice.

Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (here in referred as BIT) was set up in the year of 1984 at Tiruchirappalli in the Tamilnadu state of India. It is an autonomous college aided by the government, which is affiliated to Anna University. Undergraduate programs are presented in 8 majors while postgraduate programs are presented in 13 majors in engineering, technology, and management.

Some of the most demanded under graduate programs are: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology. The highest placements were in the IT sector followed by supply chain and operation sector The percentage of eligibility for the campus recruitment of the students of BIT was 84% in the session 2021-22 and the students got placed in various reputed companies like TCS, CTS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T and Bosch. The maximum salary that was paid was Rs.12 lakhs per annum by Visa for the computer science engineer and the overall average salary offered across all branches was Rs.4.2 lakhs per annum. Prominent recruiting companies like Zoho and PayPal befitted the candidates with salaries ranging from Rs.6-8 lakhs.
