Madhepura’s Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University is one of the oldest universities located in Bihar and it was set up in 1960. Heading a network of over 200 colleges, BNMU is a premier educational institution of the North India, accredited by NAAC with a ‘B+’ Grade. The BNMU has been stationed at 152 out of the NIRF 2023 ranking of universities. Located in a sprawling campus of 323 acres, BNMU prepares students in various disciplines across 17 constituent and over 200 affiliated colleges and institutes.
It has undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, science, commerce, management, education, journalism, library science, computer science. UG programs are BA, BSc, BCom, BEd, BBA, BCA, etc and PG courses include MA, MSc, MCom, MEd, MBA, MCA and PhD. It is important to note that admission into any academic programme of the University is done through entrance tests such as BUMNAT, BUMBA, BUMBAST and BUMBCA, counselling. The admission tests are held in May/June while the admission process begins in June and the seats are filled by counselling.

1. Must have completed 10+2 or any equivalent exam with required subjects for the particular course like Science, Commerce or Arts.
2. Should have received minimum of percentage of marks in 10+2 as mentioned for each program for general category applicants ranging from 45% to 60%.
3. As per rules and regulation of government 5% relaxation in minimum eligibility marks can be offered to reserved category students.
4. Similarly, for the candidates who have completed their 10+2 with vocational or technical subjects, they may apply as per rules which are formulated for such categories.
5. On the basis of availability of seats, the candidates who pass diploma or certification programmes which are recognized by the University and Boards can seek admission through lateral entry.
6. International students also need to meet equity criteria on par with India students and adequate English language proficiency for admission.
The Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University ensures that it secures a fair amount of placements annually. Some of the companies that frequently come to the campus for carrying out recruitment of students includes Tata consultancy service, wipro, Infosys, cognizant and among others. In the recently concluded campus placement drive for the academic session 2024, employment was provided to almost 60% of students. The maximum salary is 8.5 lakhs per annum grabbed by an IT services industry during the campus placements. They further stated that the median salary offered to the candidates varied between Rs. 3.5-4 lakhs per annum.
