Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya or BCKV is an agricultural university in the village of Mohanpur in the Nadia district of West Bengal. It was started in 1974 and is purely an Agricultural University that is devoted to teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied disciplines. BCKV has been recognized by NAAC with grade ‘A’ along with CGPA of 3.11. Therefore, according to the NIRF 2023 ranking, the university stands at 30 with regards to agricultural universities in India.
The university has undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in various faculties of Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Home Science, Basic sciences Fishery and Dairy sciences among others. Some courses offered here are BSc Agriculture, MSc Agriculture, BTech Agricultural Engineering, and MTech Agricultural Engineering. University examinations are conducted in November-December and the admission process for the batch 2024 will be commenced in the mid of July 2023. Admission to the university has to be through entrance exams, that are organized by the university.

1. The candidate should have cleared 10+2 or equivalent exam in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology streams.
2. For the B.Tech courses, the candidates should have 50 % marks in the 10+2 examination with Math, Physics, and Chemistry. For BSc Agriculture, one must obtain 50% marks in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects.
3. For MTech and MSc programs, the candidates must have passed the Bachelors degree in the respective field with minimum 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA from any University recognized by AIU/UGC.
4. For PhD programs, a candidate must have a related Masters degree and a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA from a recognized university.
5. As for the relaxation of certain criteria it can be stated that 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria is allowed for the SC, ST and PwD category candidates.
6. ICAR/CSIR examination qualification and work experience in the respective subject /field also required for some programmes.
Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya has a promise placement with many companies in the fields of agriculture, food technology and its ancillaries visit the university for campus recruitments every year. Some of the recruiters that came for placements are ITC, Godrej Agrovet, Parle Agro, Pepsico, Britannia, Mother Dairy. The highest salary package offered during the placements in the year 2021 was Rs 18 lakh per annum offered by ITC. The college is placed on an average of 60-70% students get placed every year. The average CTC as mentioned earlier is between Rs 5-7 lakh per annum for an India employee. These colleges have a close industry link and training and development which makes the students more employment competent as BCKV.
